Breg requires an insulation barrier between pad and skin; Cube sterile dressings are sold separately, as are replacement WrapOn pads.
Hip pad or Multi-Use XL?
- Hip (04750): 11.5″ x 12″ with a 44″ long strap and a 26″ short strap to secure it around the waist and thigh
- Multi-Use XL (04790): 11.25″ x 11.25″, a flexible pad you can move to the knee, shoulder or other joints later
Pick the hip pad if the hip is the only area you'll treat. Pick Multi-Use XL if you want one pad for several body parts. See the Cube size chart for all dimensions.
How you'll use it
Fill with ice and water to the marked lines, connect the hose to the hip pad, strap the pad in place over your dressing and plug in. The pump circulates ice water continuously with no settings. Breg rates the Cube for roughly 6 to 8 hours of cold per ice replacement, and the pad averages 45°F or above with a Polar Dressing. The cooler weighs 4 lb empty and 14.5 lb full, about 12″ square, with a cord just shy of 4 ft.

Hip recovery questions
Do I need a prescription for the Cube?
Yes. Federal law restricts it to sale by or on the order of a medical professional, and your prescription should specify how long and how often to use it.
How often should I check under the pad?
Typically every 1 to 2 hours, per Breg's instructions, always with a barrier between the pad and your skin.
Will the hip pad fit a Kodiak or Wave?
No. Cube WrapOn pads are compatible with the Cube, Glacier and Cub only.
How long does the ice last?
Roughly 6 to 8 hours per fill, according to Breg.
Warranty and returns
Breg warrants the Cube against defects for 180 days. As a single-patient medical device it can't be returned after shipping unless the problem is a covered defect (see our refund policy). Instructions: Polar Care Cube operating instructions (PDF).
