Who the Aircast Cryo Cuff IC knee system is for

The Cryo Cuff IC pairs Aircast's motorized cooler with a knee cuff. It's for patients after ACL reconstruction, knee arthroscopy, meniscus or ligament repair, or knee replacement whose surgeon wants cold with compression. Aircast's stated intended use is the temporary reduction of swelling and pain after surgery or injury. Aircast also states that integrated cold and compression is clinically proven to help reduce post-operative swelling and regain range of motion.

How the IC works

Fill the cooler with ice and water, connect the blue tube to the cuff, and raise the cooler for about 30 seconds while the cuff fills. Then set the cooler on a stable surface level with the cuff and plug it in. The pump in the lid runs a 30-second on/off cycle, pushing chilled water into the cuff to compress it and then letting it flow back to the cooler, which mixes the water and keeps the cuff cold. If you're away from an outlet, the IC also works by gravity: raising the cooler fills the cuff with cold water.

Cryo Cuff knee FAQ

Gravity cooler or the IC motorized cooler?

A gravity-only Cryo Cuff compresses only when you raise the cooler by hand. The IC automates that with its lid pump and 30-second cycle, and still lets you use gravity when you're unplugged.

Which knee cuff size do I need?

Measure your thigh 6″ above the kneecap: Small fits 10″ to 19″, Medium 18″ to 23″, Large 20″ to 31″.

How high should the cooler sit?

Level with the cuff during use. When filling, lift it no more than 15″ above the cuff.

Is a Cryo Cuff better than an ice pack?

Prescription, safety and returns

This is a prescription device for single-patient use. Aircast says skin checks should happen every 1 to 2 hours, recommends at least 20 minutes off between 2-hour sessions, and calls for extra caution with poor circulation, reduced skin sensitivity, children and older adults.
