Who the Cryo Cuff IC cooler + cuff bundle is for
Choose the Aircast Cryo Cuff IC cooler bundle when your surgeon or therapist wants cold paired with compression on an ankle, knee, shoulder or elbow. The motorized cooler does the work, so you don't have to keep lifting a gravity cooler by hand. You get the Cryo/Cuff IC cooler plus one cuff for the joint you pick.
If you already have a cuff, "None - Cooler Only" ships the cooler alone. Aircast lists trauma, post-op recovery, rehabilitation and sports injuries among the uses.
What ships
- Aircast Cryo/Cuff IC cooler (Aircast 51A) with the pump housed in its lid
- Power supply
- One Aircast Cryo/Cuff from the menu above (none with "Cooler Only")
Need spares? See replacement Cryo Cuff wraps, the tube assembly and a replacement IC lid.
Which cuff to order
- Ankle (10A01): one universal adult size
- Knee, Small (11C01): 10″ to 19″
- Knee, Regular/Medium (11A01): 18″ to 23″
- Knee, Large (11B01): 20″ to 31″
- Shoulder (12A01): 32″ to 48″ around the chest
- Shoulder with XL strap (12AXL01): 42″ to 54″ around the chest
- Elbow (15A01): one adult size
For knee cuffs, measure around the thigh 6″ (15 cm) above the kneecap. Shoulder cuffs are sized by torso (chest) circumference. More detail is on our Aircast size chart.
How the Cryo Cuff IC cooler works
Put ice and water in the cooler, attach the tube to the cuff and lift the cooler for about 30 seconds so the cuff fills. Then rest the cooler on a steady surface level with the cuff and plug it in.
The lid pump cycles 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off. It pushes chilled water in to compress the cuff, then lets it drain back to be re-chilled. Unplugged, the IC still works the old-fashioned way, by raising the cooler to refill the cuff. The cooler is designed for Aircast Cryo/Cuffs and ArcticFlow cuffs only.
Cryo Cuff FAQ
Gravity cooler or IC motorized cooler?
With a gravity cooler you raise it yourself each time you want fresh cold and pressure. The IC does that automatically on its 30-second cycle and keeps gravity as a backup.
How high can I lift the cooler?
Aircast says never more than 15″ (38 cm) above the cuff, to avoid too much pressure.
Who should be careful using it?
Aircast calls for extra caution with poor circulation, reduced skin sensitivity, children and older adults, and recommends checking the skin every 1 to 2 hours. Ask your doctor first if any of these apply.
Warranty and returns
The cooler carries a 6-month manufacturer's warranty from purchase. This is a single-patient medical device (made for one person's use), so it can't be returned after shipping unless a defect is covered by that warranty; see our refund policy.
