Breg Kodiak Hip: cold therapy after hip surgery

This listing pairs the Kodiak cooler with the large Hip Intelli-Flo pad for hip replacement and hip arthroscopy, or the smaller Multi-Use pad for other areas. Pad set: $239. Cooler only: $200.

Questions we hear

Is a hip pad different from a knee pad?

Yes. The hip pad is longer (13 x 20 in) so it covers the outer hip and upper thigh.

Can I use it with hip precautions?

Yes. You can apply it lying on your back without bending past your surgeon's limits. Ask a caregiver to help with the straps.

Will the Multi-Use pad work on my hip?

It is smaller and best for an ankle, elbow or wrist. Most hip patients choose the Hip pad.

How long does one fill last?

About 6 to 8 hours of cold with ice and water.

A Must for Active Recovery

Was interested in cold therapy after complex shoulder surgery involving multiple fractures. Research led me to OB.

As advertised, easy to use, effective, affordable, and integral to my recovery. Delivery was whip fast. Highly recommend.

Appreciate it!

Great overall product

Great overall device that can use some improvements. Amazing concept for post surgical relief. The ease of use is very dependent on mobility, type of surgery, age and if the “patient” has any sort of assistance. Perhaps raised or contrasting writing or physical indicators of HOW the lid fits, would be beneficial. A sticker warning to watch for water from either side of the hose would also serve to make it easier to be aware of how water drops or gushes may occur. The clips for connecting the hose don’t align easily and one must triple check to ensure it is snapped in completely.

Cheers!

Like it but needs a few improvements

The flow pads are low quality. All the Velcro straps ripped out of their heat bonded locations on the second use! OrthoBracing was great for warranty replacement. The unit works well, keep ice for 6-8h. It could benefit from an on/off switch so you don’t have to keep un/plugging it.

5* Product and 5* Customer Service

Breg® Polar Care Kodiak Cooler with Pad - Breg Polar Care Kodiak w/ Intelli-Flo Knee Pad was purchased from OrthoBracing. Great customer service. They did not over sell, advised what I needed.
The Breg Polar Care Kodiak. Is a nice machine for the money. I have used both ice and frozen water bottles. I like the ice better, but the frozen water bottles are easy to use and refreeze.

Breg shoulder

My husband had shoulder surgery on a Tuesday and used the ice therapy on Wednesday and Thursday so far. We are so pleased with the results for his comfort.

Cheers!
